(150,791 posts)In Minnesota, candidates or their surrogates are actually encouraged to come and speak on their behalf. There's time in the caucus agenda for that purpose, and if a candidate shows up outside of that time, he or she will get time to speak.
At the caucus in my precinct, we had a couple of state legislative incumbent candidates come in and speak. I know both of them, so I introduced them and they made brief pitches about their candidacy.
Anyone's welcome at our caucuses, although only those who live in the precinct are eligible to vote. Our caucuses are open meetings where people are free to speak.
We did have two caucus attendees who spoke on behalf of Hillary and Bernie, as well. The rest of the attendees listened politely to them. We're a friendly state here. We don't call the police on people at our caucuses. We listen to them.
