(15,131 posts)From a shareholder standpoint, it is good business to set the price of any given drug high enough so maximum revenue can be derived while an 'acceptable' number of people are allowed to die. From a moral standpoint, not so much. I guess I'm one of those unicorns, but we are simply going to have to reorganize our world around decisions and policies that benefit our entire species by promoting social, economic and environmental justice. It may already be too late here, because we're facing some existential threats that have been downplayed by the lie merchants, but nonetheless exist.
And, you know, one of the FIRST things that we're going to have to jettison is the 'profits over people' model. Profit IS a dirty word if people are dying for its sake.
WE'VE got to get moral here, ASAP.
