3. If the columnist is right about declining rape rates...

...doesn't that suggest that these public education campaigns might be working? Perhaps guys are internalizing the anti-date rape message. If so, then now is the time to ramp it up and wipe out rape culture as a cultural norm altogether.

Out of all the sexual assault cases I prosecuted, only one was by a stranger on a victim of opportunity. All the rest were by someone the victim knew. Often, the children were minors. I can remember only two that were actually violent, but they were both very bad. In one of them the victim recanted, but fortunately we had the emergency room physician testify. Even in the nonviolent cases, the victims are always pretty messed up emotionally afterwards. I used a lot of Pepto-Bismol in that job.
