The Fall Guy [View all]

Saw this last night on IMAX. Loved it. Other reviews from the press focused on liking it because of the romance theme between Emily Blunt character and Gosling character which I liked also but I also liked the movement of the behind the scenes element of making movies with stunts.

One of the reasons I was intrigued with it was a recent experience I had with a guy who came to fix some sound problems with our sound system in our house we had just moved into. He did a great job, then, my husband started talking with him and the guy revealed that his second job was as a stunt man. Whoa! He told us about the movies he'd been in, the stunts he'd done. He'd stunted in a movie about the baseball player Jackie Robinson and others. So we watched the Robinson movie and there he was but we never saw his face just his body. He was in the credits.

Made me wonder, so Gosling was playing a stunt man in the movie but who was the stunt guy that was doing his stunts? Lots of stunt men were noted in the credits.

Anyway, I think the movie was great. Perhaps could have been edited and a little shorter but still great.

Richard Brody in the New Yorker gave it a rave review.
