We qualify for Medicare (and signed up for Part A, as required). But we preferred to stay on our employer-based (corporate) health insurance because it has been stellar at covering 100% of our hospital costs, and no deductible for anything else, plus full access to the highest quality doctors and specialists.

We’ll happily move to Medicare when we retire, but for now, our private insurance is demonstrably a better choice.

For people who have shitty insurance, moving to Medicare will be much better (though not necessarily cheaper).

That is why Pete is correct: we need choice for all.

Broad-brush painting all insurance other than Medicare as intolerable, as Sanders and Warren do, is incorrect. Positions that come from an ideological rigidity always miss the mark.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
