(146,874 posts)The Morning Consult polling shows that 33% of Warren voters may like sanders as their second choice but the same polling also shows that 67% of Warren supporters prefer different candidates. https://morningconsult.com/2020-democratic-primary/ These voters should be allowed to take into account that a large number of sanders supporters are pushing the concept of a joint ticket or a scheme where Warren would ask her delegates to vote for sanders. Robert Reich and other sanders fans are pushing this concept. There was a 160+ thread on Reich's concept a while back https://www.democraticunderground.com/1287376907
I will be blunt. Either Warren or sanders at the top of the ticket would kill down ballot candidates in Texas. I and other real democrats have been working very hard to turn Texas blue. We have gone from 101 republicans in the state house of representatives compared to 49 Democrats after the 2010 election to only needing 9 seats to flip control of the Texas house. Texas is projected to pick up three new congressional seats after the 2020 census and so control of the Texas house is critical. Texas picked up two congressional seats in 2018 (Lizzie Fletcher and Colin Allred) and the DCCC is targeting six additional seats.
It is clear that MFA and taking away private insurance from 160 million voters will kill down ballot candidates in Texas. There is great polling that shows that if Joe Biden is the nominee, Texas will be a battleground state. If Texas is a battleground state, we have a good chance of picking up control of the Texas house (and control of the redistricting) and a couple more congressional seats. I will be block walking this weekend with Beto for one of the Texas state house seats (Eliz Markowitz).
67% of Warren supporters should know that their vote may result in a Warren delegate voting for sanders. For the 33% of Warren voters who want sanders as their second choice, they should have no problem with this plan.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
