Democratic Primaries

(68,565 posts)nominee or actively campaigned against her in the General should be employed by any candidate. It is a deal breaker for me as well. The fact is -like it or not- presidential elections have always been won in the center...those few times we strayed to the left, we lost in blow out elections. And based on the governorships, legislatures, Senate, we have moved further to the right. We always do when a Republican president is elected which is too often if you ask me. We should not be losing elections...presidential or midterm, if we all vote blue no matter who and support one another maybe we could get some of these progressive goodies that many of us have long desired.
Consider the ACA, we talked about it and it was pretty much hated...Nancy gave up her majority to get it passed, The Tea-party lost their minds, but once people experienced it, they wanted it. Healthcare is now viewed as a right. We did that, we changed people's minds across the board and against all odds. And those who want to tear it down and replace it with MFA will not be successful and could cost us healthcare in the attempt.
I will never understand why the left stands with the right on this. The bottom line is providing the best healthcare we can get passed and right now that is the ACA. And we have won several elections on health care. The same would be true with some of our other programs as well. If we compromised and passed something maybe not exactly what we want but a compromise, People would like it after they saw how it made their lives better.
So I view this M4A drama as snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Democrats should be damn proud of the effort and sacrifice it took to get what is the only healthcare program ever implemented. But instead some sneer at our greatest success and call those who support it Republican...It is a damn shame and disrespectful to those who gave up their elected offices to pass it. Thanks for the OP...I think it lets people see where others stand and did promote understanding.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
