(95,318 posts)There has been real attrition in the Republican ranks. A good many people who thought 'how bad could it be?' or 'well, let's see what he does' now have their answer, and will not make the same mistake again. Sometimes I find myself reading a blind posted item, nodding in agreement, and finding it was written by Jenifer Ruben, or even Max Boot. Rick Wilson is damned near one of the tribe, even Bill Kristol makes sense more often than not nowadays. Does it well beyond the 'even a blind chicken pecks up a little corn' level.
We are going to need these people this year. Sanders repels them. Any appreciable concession to Sanders will mark us in the eyes of many as weak, and make them less willing to align with us. They mostly won't vote for Trump still, but they may just sit on their hands and not vote at all.
From Bernies perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they dont want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."
"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
