she gave a glowing endorsement.
when it came to anita hill, this is what she said, paraphrased-
after those hearings, he came to me, and said he would support me if i promised to sit on judiciary if i won. he did and i did.
he also convinced difi to join the committee, when she was elected in that 'year of the woman' that the hearings inspired.
she said that he had had a goal of women on the committee, but that the few who were in the senate at the time had turned him down. so he helped a couple get elected, and got them on the committee.
so, he came out of it realizing that the all male committee was a problem, that a mostly male senate was a problem. he reached out, and did the work, to try to make it better.
and succeeded.
to me this is more important than whether he says any particular bunch of words.
