when I had to fly to NYC in the weeks following, I too, like your son, refuse to be driven off the streets by terrorists (that's what they are) and hateful religious zealots because someone might perceive me as gay and decide to beat the shit out of me.

If I'm bombed or beaten by foreign religious zealots/terrorists or those we grow here at home, I'll go down fighting and kicking and not cowering in my house, afraid to leave.
