Bush's 'lunch in a million'

From BBC News:

Preparations are under way for a lunch in a million for US President George Bush when he visits County Durham. As security experts surrounded a village pub in Sedgefield, speculation mounted that the Dun Cow could be where Prime Minister Tony Blair will entertain Mr Bush on Friday. The American President is spending most of Friday in Mr Blair's rural constituency in the north-east of England. Dozens of uniformed and plain-clothes police officers are in the village of Sedgefield, sealing off drains and making security checks.

Mr Blair has already favoured the Dun Cow to entertain the likes of French President Jacques Chirac and former Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. Massive police activity has been centred on the establishment, with officers going in and out and new kitchen equipment being delivered. Durham Police estimate the cost of its operation will top £1m. A spokesman for the pub said staff had been told not to comment about the president's visit.

The £15.95 lunch menu would probably be beyond the range of many of those who voted for Mr Blair. Should he eat there Mr Bush would be able to choose from tomato soup or chicken liver pate for starters, rump steak or roast turkey for a main course, and sticky toffee or Christmas pudding for dessert.

The cosy eatery fits in comfortably amid the delicatessens and craft shops of Sedgefield village, a rather better off area than many of the surrounding former pit villages that otherwise dominate the constituency of Sedgefield.
