12. Arnold's got a long way to go and they know it
Fox and the rest of the media been trivializing this election, but the people of California recognize the seriousness of this recall and are offended by the national reporting.

The LA Times reported that Arnold's negatives are just as high as his positives, and that the poll they released this morning was skewed towards Republican voters, since they are presumed to be more likely to vote. The results do not give any comfort to the Republicans.

Again, I think that after Labor Day you're going to see Davis make this recall election as much a referendum on the Bush administration as on his performance as governor. He'll get a lot of mileage by tying the energy problems back to the Bush administration's refusal to intervene when the market was obviously being gamed by the likes of Enron and such.

I still think that Davis will survive this recall attempt. He is a tough and relentless campaigner, and will not hesitate to rightfully attack this administration and its policies.
