But I don't especially care.

The whole concept behind the Skills Draft seems to be, "The majority of the people who are joining the armed forces are unskilled and undereducated." They're never going to say that, but that's the fucking reality. Anyone who's seen a military recruiter in action (the scene in F9/11 is a perfect example) knows what I'm talking about.

And their response to that, rather than examining WHY that is the case (crappy pay, disruption of normal civilian life, having explosives fired at your unarmored humvee), the government figures it can just FORCE skilled professionals to abandon their careers to serve the military in a non-combat position. You know, perform the job they've spend years of their lives and money they likely didn't have learning, and being rewarded with peanuts.
