the opinion is mostly been anti-Bush, not anti-american. People don't think that ALL Americans are bad or evil, it's the current administration policies they are against.

There are about 5000 Americans where I live, some settled, most of them students. There never have been any problems, even if of course some jerk can make a stupid statement.

There is a little organisation here called "Américains contre la guerre" (Americans against war). They use to demonstrate now and then, even together with French events, like 1st of May (Labor Day).
You can see them with their signs in French and American flags.
