2. The anti-tax zealots believe that
the only legitimate business of government is war. They invested in war and the war machine so that revenues couldn't be devoted to basic human needs and the infrastructure. Now we are seeing the effects. Roads, water plants, levees, you name it, all cost money to build. We need revenues to sustain the extended community. This cannot be ignored.

Keeping taxes low has nothing to do with government abuses. Concentration of power and corruption does. When those who grab power have wealth they don't need taxes. It is the common man who needs the communal wealth to live in a civilized manner. I guess the way I look at it is that business sold us out for profit. I don't hear any business people descrying corporate practices or having concern with the state of the nation right now. Lots of profiteering, deregulation, and illegal hiring going on now. The bottom line is a number, cold and unyielding.
