12. The Democratic Underground is BETTER than Google -- Thanks to all!

It's the equivalent of all the knowledge of all the people who are seeing the message -- plus all the FEELINGS of all those people, something that Google will never have.

When talk radio was in its infancy, I worked for Barry Gray at WMCA. I took over Larry King's show in Miami and blasted 50,000 watts from WIOD in the middle of the night (11PM to 5AM). Then I became a radio talk show host myself in Boston, and stayed in broadcasting off and on for 35 years. We all learned a lot from each other. People laughed and cried, talked and taught, and thought. When people fought on the air, we broke for music. There was anger, but there was peacefulness, too. We helped each other, too -- I did one of the first on-air dating shows. Called it Date-A-Mate; people called in and described themselves and others called off the air for their telephone numbers. There were no personal ads in the newspapers in those years. It all seems so quaint now.

I love this new quality of the Internet town square. Although I am not religious, I see this quote from Jesus in purely an intellectual way:

Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and you shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened to you.
For whoever asks, receives;
and he who seeks, finds;
and to him who knocks, the door is opened.

Matthew 7.7.8 - jesus of nazareth
