Divisive political issues we cannot let derail us.

When I first came to DU, it was shortly before the last election in 2002. Thread after thread involved not only fights between Greens and Democrats but abortion, abortion and more abortion. Guns, another hot topic, were relegated to the dungeon. Don’t even mention the Israeli/Palestinian debacle.

It will happen again if we let the disruptors take over again. I have noticed that the same people who orchestrated these scenarios no longer post at DU very much. I am sure they will be back in full battle regalia, distracting from the real issues, when the elections heat up again.

Democrats we have so many issues to beat up this incompetent President that we should never ever let them use abortion, guns and Israel as divisive topics again. I hope the candidates focus on the undeclared mess of war in Iraq and the terrible things the government is doing to the military personnel who are fighting it; those guffaws of international policy that are making us a target for terrorists instead of using diplomacy to make the world a safer place; the domestic situation of environmental slash and burn; jobs overseas and of course the wholesale robbery of the budget surplus.

Come on fellow Democrats we can do this. No more Bush!
