30. Y'gotta understand, New Resident
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, there were 36,871,422,655,316,912 motor vehicles registered in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties alone. Just the revenue from the coffee machines at DMV offices in those counties accounts for 87.2 percent of the entire Kollyforniya budget each year — excluding CalTrans, which operates on an annual budget of $47.73*, which explains why every freeway in the state is a parking lot.

*This figure does not take into account an ancillary budget of some $97 kajillion earmarked for changing all freeway signs in SoCal to include the word "The."
