I think it might be time to just stop being nice about it.
He's not being nice. At this point he's harmed you in a tangential way with his ignorance, forgetfulness, or meanness here. Its not just existential anymore, his actions have put you in the category of the uninsured.

I know its hard to put on the game face because of the long relationship that you didn't ask for it to end, but its time sweetie.

The real hard part lies ahead in the acceptance that someone that you once believed cared for you doesn't and the repercussions that has down the line for trust issues.

Take care of yourself right now.

Call the attorney tomorrow.
