Here's the roll call at the Waldorf Cat Haven.

Harry - gray and white tabby. Fifteen years old. Cantankerous old soul. The kids get canned food in the afternoon, and I think Harry eats half of it. Uses puppy pads instead of the litter boxes.

Toby - tuxedo. Eight years old. Silky smooth shiny coat. Has the most wonderful voice. Gets very affectionate, especially if he thinks you're going to turn the tap on for him.

Petey - Siamese. Eight years old. Toby's litter mate. Slightly cross-eyed, and his eyes wiggle. LOVES to groom human hands. Bite them, too. He is "Uncle Petey" to Skittles and Rat Face.

Daddy - tuxedo. Age unknown. The most irritating cat on earth, but can be very sweet. He must eat the food you are eating and he must eat it right now. He'll swipe it out of your hand.

Cocoa - fluffy black and white. Six-seven years old. Came to us as a stray, five weeks old. She is Mrs. V.'s special girl. Do not pet her or you will lose your hand.

Skittles - tortoiseshell. Six years old. Wild. Will allow herself to be petted only when she's on the bed, sometimes on the couch, and usually only in Uncle Petey's presence. O'Malley and Rat Face's mother.

Moose - fluffy ginger tabby. Six years old. Huge. Very affectionate, very mellow.

Smudge - fluffy solid black. Six years old. Tiny. Very affectionate but will turn on you in a flash. Likes to ambush the other kids.

(Skittles, Moose and Smudge are litter mates)

Mildred the Tame - sandy tabby. Mildred (aka Midrid) was feral and came into the house one day, and decided "hmm… warm… better food… think I'll stay." So she did. Very affectionate, but only if you're sitting down.

O'Malley - brown tabby and white. Two and a half years old. Likes to hop and dance. Warm and sweet - just don't pet her below the head when she's in your lap.

Rat Face - tuxedo. Two and a half years old. Spent this summer healing from cuts to her chest and a broken foot. A sweet little thing. Likes to be petted somewhat but don't try to pick her up - she hates it. Loves to rip and play tag.
