She was showing me her new apartment and said she liked it because it was big enough and because the management kept blacks out of the building. I asked her why that mattered, and she just said she didn't want black neighbors. I told her it was illegal for the apartment manager to deny housing to people because of race, and her response was "how is anyone going to prove that's the reason".

She's not a friend anymore, for a lot of reasons, not just this attitude. Mostly, because she and her boyfriend got into cocaine.
