After the episode I called my friend and I felt like such a dumbass because I actually didn't catch that it was a flash forward immediately.

I kind of thought that Kate and Jack had been staging it in a way...that perhaps they knew each other before getting on the island - also because of the constant references Jack kept making about his father and the "I love you" line he tells Kate earlier in the episode made me think they had a prior connection...it threw me off I'll admit...

But then again at one point during the final scene I accidentally leaned on my remote and changed the channel and missed some dialogue. I have to see that last scene again.

But I think you're right. Jack was just tripping on the drugs and likely going nuts...and all his rambling about having to go back make this a flash forward. Crazy episode though...and it keeps me hooked on to the show for the next three years.
