it'd be called social security, paid sick/carers leave, disability pension and national health. I refuse to call the US a developed country anymore, when a relatively common ailment and a short time off work can do this to people.

A nation should be judged on how it treats those at the bottom of the pile and those in need, whilst there's obviously a large number of thoroughly decent Americans, your nation's priorities fucking suck.
