181. This is one of those times where I wish we could do a "proper fundraiser".
This is about as close as we're going to get on DU, as DU needs donations itself just to exist and pay the server bills plus the admin's wages - they made this site their job too.

TexasLady, I just hope that 100 people will pitch in and donate $25 apiece. That may get the mortgage bastards off your back at the very least. I know others upthread have donated so that number of people donating $25 apiece will have dropped and I know it's dropped again (check paypal.com).

That other thread up-post saying everyone should have an emergency fund - I didn't want to dignify that poster with a direct response... in your case it's what's happened when the emergency fund HAS ran out and all the other emergency cash has been tapped.

I wish you all the best with your medical situation. Obviously 2009 is your personal Annus Horriblis (to borrow the words from Lizzie Windsor).

I don't know what the financial situation for your family is going to be like in the long run. I hate to play the devil's advocate at this point and please don't take this as coming off the wrong way. To keep it simple: plan for the worst and hope for the best. Consider filing Chapter 7, plan on losing the home but fight to keep it. The mortgage company may be a bastard but consider calling them daily so they don't call you (fair debt collection practices act generally forbids them calling you if you've made contact with them recently). I wish they'd hurry up with the social security disability claim situation too - once that goes through then it should open up things like Medicaid (maybe) and Section 8 (if it comes to it).

I'm glad you've reached out, and I wish you all the best. At the end of it, you have something more valuable than any house or bills or things: your family. I admire you for fighting for them.

Regards, Mark.
