5. I did that once
I worked for an office that was treating its workers like Sh!+ and they asked me to sign a new worker policy that I didn't agree with and I refused to sign it. It was created on account of some B.S. they had put another co-worker through. I knew for several days the standoff was coming and I was going to be backed into a wall, so I quietly packed up my belongings at my desk so the day the face-off came, when they CERTAINLY assumed I'd sign when cornered, I cheerfully gave them my office keys, walked to my desk and picked up my purse and teeny desk-plant and waltzed out the door.

It was scary, but MAN, did it feel good to get out of there, and to kind of think I got their goat besides.

Could I afford to do that now? Nuh-uh!

THOSE were the days, when you could quit a job you didn't like if you wanted to, before you even had another job lined up . . .

Ah, to be young and reckless again . . . (but my job now's not too bad except for the pay, and I can live with the pay.)
