:silly: It's really tough to choose, though. Ella is a giant and nobody does scat like Ella. Just nobody. But Lady Marian, Jimmy McPartland's war-bride, weaves a tune on the ivories with more subtlety, harmony, and nuance than I've ever heard. She was a real treat to hear in person (right up front and cozy, of course).

Marian's fans included Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Steve Allen, Oscar Peterson, and Artie Shaw. That's a helluva fan club.
