Past & present, I would assume?
THIS!...Good as any starting place, I reckon beginning in the 70's...

2nd: and we're still SO PROUD...if GA ain't got nothin' ya'll -(by backwoods skippy) - we DO have the Allman Brothers to our credit, after all, from Macon:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6up076lSH83rd. OK. Not really so sure just EXACTLY WHAT 'the south' will actually be (specifically) doin' agin? (According to these lyrics?) Delusional? Cognitive dissonance maybe? Fantasy-land maybe???? shrug. Who knows? But never no mind over all of that - because still (overall intention aside) - some really, awesome wicked fiddle playin' all the same along these lines is a bit rare no matter the specific venue:
(Spoiler: I post this here strictly out of pure artistic merit...just so ya know:)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ofD9t_sULMThough ya know ya'll, Chuck Berry is quite the staunch intellectual...to this day. Still! An Absolutely, incredible fascinating mind...and still quite HOT to this day because of it ~

(semi)Bottom line: The Indisputable Genius:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krk5y86aDJISO - OK - ABSOLUTE bottom line here, I would guess, would be fittingly to close out with this classic which may touch ALL of our hearts:
(Ray didn't take any guff from his staff!)
In 1979, Charles was honored with: "And in 1979 the Georgia legislature declared Ray Charles's version of "Georgia on My Mind" to be the official state song."
Sadly, I can not find a whole lot of information on this on the web which actually led up to that final decision, though I personally remember it very well.
See, from what I can recall, Charles refused to play in a Jim Crow state once he arrived - obviously prior to 1979. Flat out and it hurt his career for a time. It was only many years later that the GA legislature finally realized what they had done by banning his performance and tried to make amends in 1979.
Ummph. umm. umm. umm.
Dang ya'll ~
Yep.
Lest we never, EVER forget nor confuse our REAL roots to all of this and what other folks had to go through for a New York minute!
Never.
Ever.
Truth.
