I've tried spinning it and come up with some nice twine. Even linen has to be processed after spinning and weaving to make it soft enough to wear. Hemp by itself is probably less absorbent than cotton would be, although once it's been commercially spun and processed into clothing, it's pretty good at wicking moisture away from the body, although less so than stuff like polypropylene.

I'm afraid there's nothing particularly magic about hemp fibre as opposed to the other fibre choices we have.

It's just monumentally stupid not to be growing this very important crop and taking the pressure off our forests for producing wood pulp for paper and off the environment for producing oil for plastic and other uses.

End the drug war NOW. Start growing industrial hemp NOW.
