54. The Tea-Partiers tend to think that it's a contradiction too.
But they're wrong. How is it contradictory to support the freedom to bear arms (which our military has imposed gross violations of against Iraq and Afghanistan during these wars) and oppose aggressive wars, wasted human life, and squandered resources?

Having been raised around a lot of people who think that anyone opposed to war is some kind of limp-wristed, pacifistic coward, I think that carrying a rifle AND an anti-war sign is a pretty potent way to show people that that is NOT the case. It shows people that you can be ready and willing to defend yourself, the people around you, and your country and not blindly support the military or it's interventionist wars.

And it worked. It got people talking. I had a lot of very interesting discussions with people and hopefully caused a lot of virulently pro-war folks to think for a change.
