67. To quote another poster from another board:
"70% of the people in this country support return of the government back to the people, rebuilding and maintenance of the public infrastructure for the benefit of all, rights and protections for workers, land use planning and protection of the natural world, equal opportunity and protection under the law for all citizens, and have no interest in harassing their neighbors because of their race, gender, religion, gender preference or for any other reason." - mberst

This is a non-partisan view, and I think it is correct, even in the red states. It is an idea that can be supported by many diverse belief systems and ideologies. I have noticed that in talking to my right-wing friends, as long as I refuse to defend Democrats and give them their rightful share of the blame, it is much easier than I ever imagined to get at least a partial consensus. No one seriously believes that Clinton was impeached for more serious things than what these guys have already admitted to. People are not that stupid. (Most people.) But their hackles come up whenever they detect any attempt to defend Clinton. He's the anti-Christ. Admit that may be the case, and the whole discussion changes. Maybe they know deep down that he was wronged somehow, and just don't like having their noses rubbed in it. Who knows? But the sharp polarization between the parties is very wide maybe, but it is also very shallow. It must collapse soon, I think.

I don't expect Bush or Cheney to make it through something like impeachment. An unfortunate bicycle accident while eating a pretzel, or something to that effect. Bush is definitely not strong enough emotionally to survive an ordeal like that. He has always avoided any repercussions from actions. And Cheney knows where too many skeletons are buried.

I do think Bush would be a good candidate for the ICC, and should be turned over to the Hague if he is impeached. He has no strategic intelligence value.
