8. I agree with you.
Congress has been the enabler. But the Bush Family has been the force behind the abuse. And there are Democrats who are just as much to blame.

How do we fix it?

First of all, we take private money out of the picture. Campaigns should be financed with public funding, so everyone has the same opportunity to get their message out.

Then we do away with the lobbying industry. It does not help the American people, it furthers big business interests and special interests, and to hell with the people.

We need to set term limits. No more career politicians. People get so old they are out of touch with what's going on in the world. We need people with open minds, no baggage, and no obligations to someone else. Only then can they make decisions based on what's right for the country, instead of their biggest donor.

This is just a start, of course, but things must change. Congress must be held accountable, and what we've had for the past six years has been just awful. I know it goes back much further than this, but we have to start somewhere, and now is as good a time as any.
