She was an out lesbian before her dad took office. It is not a secret, everyone in America knows about it.

Kerry's reference is gently chiding the REpublicans for hypocrisy on the gay issue.

To intimate that he is saying something wrong by using her name is bordering on homophobia. There is NOTHING WRONG with her being a lesbian. It's a given. It is not an issue of outing anyone, it is not an issue of divulging something negative about someone. It is a FACT and he is using FACTS to drive home a point.
