Whereas the Republicans have eagerly embraced and nurtured outsiders over the years (if they think they can win), the Democrats remain The Tenure Party; it's about how much time you've put in, not how much talent you have.

Having lost both houses of Congress and gotten consistently outmaneuvered by the Republicans, you'd think the Boys and Girls Club would be more receptive to outside talent than they have shown in the case of Clark.
