14. I sincerely believe that both our Democratic candidates

would do one hell of a lot better at picking a Suprme Court justice--and that is why I have decided--

There is no 2012. There is no revanchement. There is no "Let's regroup because we were so unsettled by all the big bad Bushite posturing."

There is only now.

Hillary Clinton would not give us a Scalia. She would choke first. I believe that. Barack Obama would not give us a Clarence Thomas. He would gag on the idea. Both of them are respectable as not just politicians, but legal minds, and they are both undoubtedly, more liberal than McCain, who has already told us which way he would go. They both are more in tune with my values, as a progressive Democrat, and they both would, if not fulfill my three major wishes, not being genies, would at least run things more commensurate with my ideals:

A) Being competent.

B) Not being narrow.

C) Not being a Republican--the party that brought us Nixon, Watergate, Reagan, Iran-Contra, Bush, the unfinished Persian Gulf (let's see how these missles work) conflict (Grenada, Panama, bases in Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador....) And finally W-- the current Iraq War, torture, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo....the Yoo memo, the unitary executive....

If anyone cares to have their country back, they will vote Democratic. I don't think John McCain would willingly or knowingly sell out our republic--but I don't credit his intellect or his resolve all that much seeing the capitulation on the DTA, to the MCA...to the CIA...still waterboarding. Principles? Where?

Our Black-robed Nine are no Immortals. And it's the oldest--and our more liberal, who have the sketchy Magic-8-Ball fortune. We can't wait 4 years. We need a Dem in office--now.
