8. I think Obama is more likely finding the appropriate point in time to address race.
His Philadelphia speech was a demonstration that the topic can work to his favor. With candid and intelligent discussion of the issue I believe a lot of these people will shed their unease very quickly. After all it is largely an unease based on vapors from Karl Rove's dung. I believe many (not all, but maybe most) of the people whose old bigotries are being dredged up; I believe these people mave the capacity to surprise the narrative AND I believe that Obama might have the right words in him to make this happen.

We'll see.
