4. where's Rick Mercer when you need him??

Now, I sympathize with ... uh ... Stephen. I have a 50s girly name that people automatically abbreviate, and when you grow up and don't want a girly name, it's hard to make 'em stop. (Let's say it's Deborah; ever tried to get people to stop calling you Debby?)

My partner has another commonly abbreviated 50s name, and he inexplicably changed his name when he grew up from (we'll say) Will to Bill. Boring.

So I figure if he wants to be Stephen, well heck, it's his name, and it's not as if it's Karen Flanagan-McCarthy or Judy Wasylycia-Leis or some such fool concocted thing that I feel completely free to ignore.

Funny how Bush's attempts at familiarity just make him look like a moron.
