Seriously, though, you are right. Throughout the ages, people have felt that they had a special place in history. I remember reading a book one time, written about the expectations of people when the year 1900 came. It was everyone's hope and belief that this would mark a big "change" in mankind. And all sorts of good reasons were given for this belief. But it was written in the mid 20th century, so we know what the author was thinking!! The whole premise actually made me weep, when I realized that the future held WWII, the Nazis, and other delights.

This was by a semi famous author but my mind is blank now. I read this absolutely at LEAST three decades ago. Does anyone remember it?

Anyway, since reading that book, honestly I have felt, the more things change (and they do), the more they stay the same.

Now, if you mean ascension as an individual, like choosing not to come back to earth for another life--well that is just an open question as far as I am concerned. Interesting to contemplate, but I don't know. Honestly, I think I may still have work to do. Sigh.
