What do you say we start a new thread on this every 50 or so posts? We do have to think of our friends on dial-up.
There are some interesting posts downthread on the first Daily Psychic thread, so if I may make a suggestion, if you respond to them, copy them on this thread with your response.
Well, it's kind of interesting that I start this thread out with the meaning of my experience that I posted on the first thread. I have now discovered the meaning of the experience I posted on the first thread. To re-cap, here it is:
Yesterday I was very excited because my department head told me there's a chance I'll be teaching a course I have wanted to teach for three years. I was lying in bed, awake, thinking about what texts I might use and going over ideas that I had for the class.
I heard (I've had other clairaudient experiences, so this was no surprise) one of my students making a sound, "Kapow," like he was shooting a toy gun. Shortly thereafter, I knew which student it was.
I just really have no idea what this could mean. I've thought about if it could be symbolic; for example, my student shooting down an idea that isn't practical. Somehow, though, this doesn't resonate.
So, I'm baffled about this one but there is no question about hearing the voice and what it said. I got the meaning this week. My department head and I were chatting in the hallway and he told me that long-term, the plans are to hire one person to handle this course and two others. The other two courses dictate the hiring of a person with a different type of academic background than I have. What this means is that long-term, I won't be teaching this course.
I felt a bit of disappointment over this but it didn't last long because I'm the kind of person who does so many different types of things in my work. While I had hoped this course would be mine to teach for many years, it doesn't look like this will be the case. Of course, funding for this type of thing is always iffy so I could have it for a few more semesters. After that, I might be ready to move on, anyway.
What's funny to me, though, is the "kapow" was telling me that to think of this as a long-term teaching possibility wasn't viable. What's also meaningful is the student's voice that I heard. It's too long to go into it, but boy, was it perfect that his voice was the one I heard saying "kapow."
