38. The other night NPR had a program on the event of the day in Australia -

an apology by the new President? Primie Minister? to the aborigonals for taking the children from the families for about a sixty year period in the last century. In the background some music was playing that appealed to my ear. I reserched the source on little clues as I didn't hear all the program and didn't get the name, but I found this -

Beautiful design to the web site and you can hear some of the songs.

There is plenty of information about this singer of Australia-rock (or should I say blues-folk?) music - lots of stories if you want to follow it through.

The NPR program had a lot of testimonies of people who experienced the separations and confusion. It can probably be traced on NPR - I think it was Tuesday evening. The apology took place that day. I understand that it is a controversial issue and historically, some Australians didn't even know it went on.

Edited to add that I can't find the song that was playing on the NPR program - The Children Came Back.

Here is a link to his my space site with music from the latest album.

http://www.myspace.com/archieroach (Be sure to listen to Liyarn Ngare in lieu of my not finding the song on NPR)

And another site to a Time Asia article:

There is a lot of that experience running through his music.
