Dear Jade Hill Farm,

6 years ago my family and I were under duress, and you offered us shelter. You were not the home of my dreams and you were not my first choice. But somehow I found myself here in your embrace.

For 6 years you have provided warmth, shelter and a safe haven for all of us. I have rested and healed in your sunroom and delighted in your raspberries. And I’ve done my best to care for you in return. I turned your giant anthill into a productive herb garden. I restored and re-fenced your pastures. I uncovered your roses and daylilies, that they could be kissed by the sun and refreshed by the breeze. I brought new life to your hardwood floors and replaced your tired and worn out linoleum. I stripped your faded wallpaper and freshened your walls with new paint. 3 years ago your well pump broke and I gave you a new well pump that was up to code. 2 years ago, your paint started to fade and peel a little. The painter I hired never showed up, and now your paint is peeling more and there is nothing I can do. Last winter, your garage door openers broke; I cannot afford to fix them. 2 months ago your hot water heater broke. I used my August living money to replace your hot water heater. Immediately, 2 faucets began to drip. I have no money to repair them. Soon it will be winter and I fear I won’t have enough money to fuel your furnace.

Unfortunately, I have reached an impasse. I an no longer able to properly provide for you. And so, dear Jade Hill Farm, I release you to the perfect family. May the perfect family find their way to your doors quickly, that you may provide them shelter and in return be properly cared for and loved. May my equity be released so that I may start over in my true dream home; a shelter that is more appropriate to my current needs and those of my family.

I love you, Jade Hill Farm. I will always be grateful for the haven you provided us.
