Buckbeak eats ferrets. At one point Hagrid has a dead stoat (I think) that he was possibly planning on feeding to Buckbeak.

Malfoy was turned into a ferret by Moody.

A badger's basically a big weasel.

Here's a speculative question, and sadly I don't have the book with me so I can't name names, but in the beginning of SS there are several of Harry's classmates who have the sorting hat on for a LOOOOOOONG time. When Harry has it on, the hat's thinking of making him a Slytherin, and Hermoine admits that the hat thought about making her a Ravenclaw. So what was going on with all the other people who were sitting under the hat for a while?
