307. Mine is an Olympus with an excellent zoom lens. But there are some
great new models out there now. Mine is about 4 years old and still working perfectly, so for now I can't really justify getting a new one though I've been thinking I should start opening my eyes on the possibility. I've heard some good things about some of the new Minolta models. Basically, we should both see if we can find people who recently did the research and find out what they found.

For me, the features I like the best about my camera is that it is a size such that I can easily carry it around for sudden, unplanned photos, I like its clamshell closure so that it is protected, and its zoom lens makes framing shots MUCH more flexible than it would be without the zoom. It also takes great macro photos of very small things, which is one of my fascinations. It's very easy to use and the resolution is high enough for printing 5x7 and even occasionally 8x10 prints. Newer cameras have the optionof much higher resolution, but honestly I have rarely wished for it. Those huge files take a LOT of space! I would like a more powerful zoom to get better nature photos, but I've really gotten by amazingly well with my little Olympus.

So we need to find a digital camera afficiando - there's a Photography Group here at DU, and I bet they'dlove to dispense some wise advice!
