2. while some parallels may be valid,
to be fair, in the USSR, even under the worst of the Brezhnev years, if you were willing to work, you were guaranteed a job and a minimal standard of living(some form of housing and food)...sadly, the US, the richest country in the world, cannot even do just that. People are working 3 jobs and still can't afford rent or health insurance.
Not to talk up the shitbomb that was Brezhnev's USSR, just to point out that the powers-that-be would rather maximize profits at the expense of the working person, rather than even maintain a basic standard of living for its citizens.
