16. The parallels are amazing...
...in the first Gulf War, Bush I could have taken Baghdad then but ended the war when the objectives of the UN Resolution was reached. We could have had Schwartzkopf march into Baghdad back in '91, and had this fiasco 15 years ago, but give Bush the Elder credit for restraint. Unfortunately, the son refuses to learn from the father.

Back in the 1840's the doctrine was "Manifest Destiny" which professed that we, as Americans, had a right to all land between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and its what mainly drove the rationale for the Mexican War.
