from a business trip where I met many old friends in the biz. There were several notable changes, but this was one I thought might interest DU'ers. Notice the name of the organization. Hits all the bases.

Pastor Loses Tax Battle in Court

A church, which has been trying to get a property tax exemption for its pastor’s home, has been dealt a major setback.

Thursday, a Florida Circuit Court judge ruled in favor of Bay County Property Assessor Rick Barnett saying that Faith Christian Family Church's senior pastor Markus Bishop’s home does not qualify as a parsonage.

Rev. Bishop was hoping to have his multi-million dollar mansion listed as a parsonage, exempting it from $47,000 in annual property taxes, but Fourteenth Circuit Judge Glenn Hess, says no.

Judge Hess says Bishop’s house does not qualify as a parsonage under Florida law because its not used primarily for religious purposes. Furthermore, Florida law doesn’t qualify parsonages for tax exemptions anyway.
