Suggests Republicans May Lose Control Of Congress In Fall
A new poll suggests congressional Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their control of Congress in the November elections.

The latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll of a thousand adults finds that by an almost three-to-one margin, Americans hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard. Respondents say they want to see the Democrats take over after a dozen years of Republican rule.

Among nearly 800 people identified as registered voters, those surveyed say they favor Democrats, 51-to-40 percent. And solid majorities of liberals and moderates and even some conservatives say they'll vote Democratic.

The poll, however, suggests President Bush's freefall may have stopped. His approval rating of 36 percent is basically unchanged from last month.
