7. frankly, I would be most happy with just the house. here's why:
Let's say we lose both the house and senate in '06. The economy will continue to screw the middle and lower classes; education will continue to suffer from unfunded mandates; IraqNam will grow into a quagmire larger than Jupiter's red spot; Iran attacks will destroy the oil economy of the world; science will continue to take huge hits from the White House and the deficit will be so large that in comparison, the grand canyon will remind people of distance between Lieberman's tiny penis and a bent over Karl Rove.

If we take the house and the senate, (shudder) we have two years to fix everything. it would be I M P O S S I B L E ! ! ! We would take the brunt of the blame in 08 and be back where we started from. Besides, with the boy king as a petulant president, it would be even harder to accomplish anything of note. The congress leading into 08 would make this year's congress actually productive and efficient - when it was anything but.

Let's say we lose the senate, but win the house.

We have a lock on preventing the worst excesses of Team Bush.
We control the spending and therefore, can start attacking the excesses of the military-industrial-K Street- White House evil cabal that exists without any supervision.
We can start investigating war crimes, torture, civil rights violations, and revisit the Patriot Act.

Best of all, the predictably bad situation economically, globally, socially and more, WON'T BE OUR FAULT. the boy king will still have been president for those years. The Senate would still be filled with mindless bloviating sycophants. The house will be able to pass real reform legislation and bitch at the Senate for refusing to deal with it. We can tread water for 2 yrs, protecting what is left of our formerly great country, and get ready to take over the executive, the entire legislative and start working on repairing the judiciary.
