One main difference between Democrats and Republicans [View All]

Back when bush told the terrorists to "Bring it on", there was no doubt that bush was playing backseat cowboy again and giving the terrorists (or whatever the hell we are at "war" with) more fuel to attack us and our troops, but the republicans supported him 100%. A few years later, republicans will still support what he said even though many of them know he was wrong for saying it.

Now a Democrat makes a comment that can be twisted around to make him say something that almost everyone knows isn't what he meant, and a large percentage of Democrats side with republicans on attacking Kerry and are demanding he apologize for not slamming bush with enough explanation.

On the way to work this morning I was listening to Bill Press and he and a few callers were basically saying that the Democrats didn't need this right now and that John Kerry should apologize for saying what he said. Could you imagine a right-winged talk show host asking a republican to apologize for anything?

I will say that if John Kerry made it clear he thought the troops were uneducated idiots, I would probably be asking for him to clean up his mess. The truth is, Kerry's intentions were quite obvious, but his presentation lacked proper wording.

That is one big difference between the two parties. Granted, we shouldn't be sheep like many republicans and right-winged conservatives, but I don't think we need to be as critical about our party's members either. Once again, if Kerry or anyone else says something that is just plain wrong, then they should be held accountable. Messing up a joke is not reason enough to go on the attack.

I will never be a republican, but being a Democrat is hard sometimes because it can be frustrating watching some of them fall all over each other and have no sense of cohesive direction. Just my opinion of course, and I know many will disagree with me here, but that's fine. I just don't think that by siding with the republicans on this one is doing anyone any good. And this is not just directed at people here on DU, this really stemmed from the talk radio show this morning.
