4. The problem with Stupid is his light switch mentality

under the best of circumstances, that "us vs. them" mentality he displays toward Democrats that infected the whole of the last Congress.

If he appeared snide it's because he thought he was talking to the equivalent of Satan. I think he honestly tried to display that sensitivity he was warned to display. I just think he couldn't disguise his disgust at having to talk to one of THEM.
