It always seems easier for people to look at the negative side of things, but I try to look for the bright spots. America is no different than it has always been, it is just more "in your face" than it used to be.

I'm not trying to trivialize what your wife said, but I think that by giving up, you are..well.... giving up.

A quick example of what I see is that I opened a thread today right here at DU this morning morning and it said that the members here at DU have already donated over $20,000 to help feed the hungry. Last I looked, many members here are Americans. DU is just a small sampling of what is out there in this country, and it's not all bad.

Please don't take my post the wrong way, I know that things can look bleak every now and again, but America hasn't lost it's soul, it just has been darkened by some evil people. Last month showed me that America's soul is being reborn and rejuvenated. The numbers on the polls for bush are low and the numbers of Americans against the war are rising.
